RIDDLE OF THE BITCOIN
This is a personal piece reflecting on the Bitcoin craze and the potential uncertainty for the global economy. The Sphinx in Greek culture was a trickster creature and a symbol of foreboding times. She appears in the play Oedipus Rex by Sophocles and devours those who fail to solve her riddles.
Here, she appears as a sort of party crasher, if you will, perched ominously on a giant Bitcoin that is being sacrificed in front of the NY Stock Exchange building, the modern American template for the worship of money. Photoshop, Blender (Bitcoin), Clip Studio Paint.
This is the green fire variant, and some works in progress.
When creating this project, I drew inspiration from many different depictions of the sphinx and some modern pieces about Bitcoin.
King of Mars is an action-adventure story featuring an alien hero who crash-lands on Mars long ago when it was a lush, wild planet teeming with life. Our hero must traverse this hostile land filled with monsters from mythology to save it from impending doom. One of his first encounters is with a pack of wild sphinxes.
